Viterbese assistant coach Fabrizio Galasso dies at 49
Fabrizio Galasso, the 49-year-old assistant coach for the Serie D club Viterbese, has died. His body was discovered in a bed and breakfast in the historic center of Viterbo, where he had been staying.
Andrea Bussone, a fellow coach who shared the accommodation, raised the alarm and attempted to perform CPR before emergency services arrived. Medical personnel were unable to resuscitate him. While official judicial investigations are pending to clarify the circumstances, the current leading hypothesis is that Galasso suffered a sudden medical emergency, such as a heart attack or stroke, while sleeping.
The club expressed profound grief over the sudden loss, with President Piero Camilli and the staff offering condolences to Galasso's family. His passing has also prompted discussions within the Italian football community regarding the intense professional pressures and mental health challenges faced by coaching staff.
