Viterbo Biennale 2026 to honor sculptor Alberto Morucci
The 9th Biennale of Viterbo Contemporary Art 2026 will feature a special tribute to sculptor Alberto Morucci. The event, centered on the theme ‘Belonging and Roots: opportunity or obstacle?’, will take place on September 5 at Morucci’s historic Atelier in Piazza San Carluccio.
Organized in collaboration with the artist’s children and restorer Eva Tarantello, the program will explore Morucci’s connection between local roots and universal messages. Highlights include the history behind his monumental installation ‘Cenacolo’—a work featuring 12 life-sized wooden figures that faced ecclesiastical rejection in 2011—and his conceptual works focused on peace and social inclusion.
