Viterbo initiates recovery project for former Teatro Genio

The municipality of Viterbo has launched a market survey to begin the technical and economic feasibility design for the recovery of the former Teatro Genio. The historic building, located near Piazza delle Erbe, has been closed since 2014.

The project is supported by approximately 4.9 million euros in European FESR Lazio 2021-2027 funds. The investment aims to address structural and seismic safety, complete necessary interventions, and ensure long-term operational sustainability. The estimated cost for the works is 3.45 million euros, with roughly 200,000 euros allocated for design services.

The administration intends for the renovated space to serve a dual cultural and multifunctional purpose, hosting cinema, congresses, training, and various cultural events to revitalize the city's historic center.
