Viterbo kebab shop and barber shop vandalized in suspected intimidation racket

Police in Viterbo, Italy are investigating two recent vandalism incidents that targeted a kebab shop in the San Faustino neighbourhood and a nearby barber shop on Via della Sapienza. Both premises were defaced with Arabic graffiti containing death threats, which were later removed. The kebab shop owner, a 28‑year‑old Tunisian, reported that three compatriots, including a 15‑year‑old, forced entry, damaged a refrigerator and threatened to set fire to the shop if it opened, saying “tu non apri un cazzo”. The same type of Arabic writing was also found on the barber shop’s shutters. Investigators are considering the involvement of a so‑called “baby gang” and are probing a possible racket that seeks to control foreign‑run businesses in the city centre. No definitive conclusions have been released yet.
