Viterbo launches third “Ciuffo e la Rosa” prize for expatriates

The Comune di Viterbo and the Sodalizio Facchini di Santa Rosa presented the third edition of the “Ciuffo e la Rosa d’Oro e d’Argento” awards in the council hall of Palazzo dei Priori. The prizes honor Viterbian residents who live abroad or in other Italian towns but return to the city to take part in the traditional Transport of the Santa Rosa Machine. The gold award will go to the longest‑resident expatriate who comes back for the ceremony, while the silver award will be given to the longest‑resident citizen from another Italian locality who also returns.

Mayor Chiara Frontini, Council President Marco Ciorba, Sodalizio President Massimo Mecarini, guide Pietro Mecarini and architect Damiano Amatore (representing the construction firm Fiorillo) attended the press conference. The trophies, made with 3‑D printing by Fiorillo, will be displayed during the facchini gatherings and handed out on 3 September at the Teatro dell’Unione. The event continues a recent tradition, following last year’s award to a Viterbian resident of Spain.
