Viterbo man dies after choking at shopping center food court

A 71-year-old man, Nunzio Romano, died after choking while eating at a food court within a shopping center on via Garbini. Witnesses reported that the man, a resident of Viterbo originally from Naples, ingested a piece of meat that obstructed his airway, causing him to collapse and lose consciousness.

Bystanders, including a customer and a retired firefighter, attempted emergency procedures such as the Heimlich maneuver before emergency medical services arrived. Although paramedics managed to clear the man's airway and performed prolonged resuscitation efforts, he was pronounced dead after being rushed to the Santa Rosa hospital emergency room.
