Viterbo mourns passing of renowned pizza artisan Roberto Baldini
Roberto Baldini, a well-known pizza artisan and local figure in Viterbo known as ‘Giggi’, has passed away at the age of 73. For over forty years, Baldini operated a historic establishment on via Cairoli, which expanded into several locations throughout the city.
Baldini was recognized not only for his professional skill as a pizza maker but also for his famous hot dogs and his engaging, ironic personality. He was a central figure in the local community, known for his spontaneous interactions with customers and his ability to turn his business into a social meeting point.
Viterbo Mayor Chiara Frontini expressed her condolences to the Baldini family, describing him as a ‘familiar and loved face’ of the community and an authentic presence who represented a long-standing family tradition in the city’s history. The family business is expected to continue under the management of his son, Daniele, and his grandson.
