Viterbo prepares for the Santa Rosa procession and festivities

Preparations are underway for the upcoming Trasporto della Macchina di Santa Rosa in Viterbo. To ensure public safety and maintain clear escape routes, Prefect Sergio Pomponio has reaffirmed a ban on placing chairs, sofas, or other items along the procession route, specifically noting Via Cavour and Via Garibaldi. Authorities emphasized that such obstructions hinder safety and reduce the available space for spectators.

Local festivities include the 'Cena dei Facchini,' an event attended by over two thousand people, featuring the presentation of eleven new 'facchini' (bearers). Additionally, the Pilastro district is preparing for its 54th procession of the 'Armonia Celeste' mini-machine, led by 66 children, which will mark the final journey for this specific model before a new cycle begins in 2027.

Religious traditions also feature prominently, with young 'minifacchini' from the Santa Barbara district participating in a pilgrimage to the Sanctuary of Santa Rosa to honor the city's patron saint. The celebrations highlight the historical and spiritual legacy of Santa Rosa, whose life and perceived miracles remain central to Viterbo's cultural identity.
