Viterbo Province to discuss national radioactive waste repository project

The Province of Viterbo has scheduled a meeting for Thursday, October 22, 2026, at Palazzo Gentili to discuss the proposed national radioactive waste repository and technological park (Dn-Pt). The meeting aims to present technical studies and four evaluative reports prepared by a group of experts tasked by the province.

This initiative follows recent deliberations by the Provincial Council and the Assembly of Mayors, which approved supplementary observations to the proposed National Map of Suitable Areas (CNAI). These observations are part of the Strategic Environmental Assessment (VAS) procedure regarding the localization of the facility.

During the session, provincial officials, including President Alessandro Romoli and Environmental Delegate Andrea Di Sorte, will present technical findings to local associations and committees to address the environmental and technical aspects of the project's potential location in the Tuscia region.
