Viterbo running event causes traffic and parking disruptions

The 17th edition of the StraViterbo running event took place in Viterbo on Sunday, October 18, 2026. Organized by the Army Non-Commissioned Officers School in collaboration with UISP and CONI Lazio, the event featured a 10-kilometer competitive race and a 5-kilometer non-competitive run, both starting and ending at Valle Faul.

The event necessitated significant traffic management by local police, including road closures and parking bans in the historic center and near Valle Faul. However, the event led to complications for motorists. Reports indicate that drivers at the Sacrario parking area became trapped due to road closures on Via Marconi and Via Ascenzi.

Some motorists, including tourists and those who had parked the previous evening, were unable to exit the area as planned. To resolve the congestion, local police eventually had to facilitate the release of vehicles by allowing them to travel briefly against the flow of traffic on Via Ascenzi.
