Vithas and Surg For All provide urological care in Liberia

A medical mission led by Dr. Jose Rubio from Hospital Vithas Valencia 9 de Octubre and the NGO Surg For All has provided specialized urological care to patients in Monrovia, Liberia. The initiative focused on treating conditions such as prostate cancer, prostatic hypertrophy, and urethral pathologies.

During the mission, medical teams performed 45 surgeries and conducted outpatient consultations for more than 80 patients. The long-term goal of the project is to establish the first dedicated Urology Service in Liberia. To support this, construction is underway on a new building annexed to the hospital to house modern urological facilities.

Sustainability for the initiative is supported by an agreement between St. Joseph Catholic Hospital, Surg For All, and the Juan Ciudad Foundation. Additionally, the Vithas Foundation and Surg For All have established a collaboration to provide medical training for healthcare professionals from developing countries, with plans to train Liberian and Cameroonian medical staff in 2025.
