Vithas launches interoperable digital health data space

Vithas and Fundación Vithas have launched Vithas Data Space, an interoperable digital health data platform designed to facilitate the secure and ethical exchange of anonymized clinical information. This initiative marks a milestone for the Spanish private healthcare sector, providing a technological infrastructure that allows public entities, universities, research centers, and pharmaceutical companies to access large datasets for medical research.

The project is funded by the Spanish Ministry for Digital Transformation and the European Union through the Next Generation EU / PRTR program. It aligns with the European Data Strategy to promote excellence in medical research and improve clinical outcomes.

The platform offers various services, including a catalog of datasets containing metadata and anonymized care information such as laboratory results, surgical interventions, and emergency department visits. Key use cases for the data include monitoring antibiotic resistance, identifying patients for clinical trials, and evaluating the efficacy of high-impact pharmacological treatments.
