Viticulture trends evolve in Argentina and the United States

The Argentine wine industry is undergoing a significant transformation, particularly in the Uco Valley. Modern winemakers are shifting focus toward a deep study of terroir, specifically how different layers of rock, stone, and pebbles influence grape quality. This evolution has elevated the role of agronomist engineers, who now play a central role in determining vine placement based on soil composition and behavior. Martin Di Stefano of Zuccardi notes that the industry has experienced a revolution over the last 15 to 20 years, moving away from geometrically perfect vineyards toward more specialized viticulture.

In the United States, DuCard Vineyards near Charlottesville, Virginia, recently hosted its annual Farm To Table Harvest Dinner. The event, which supports the Madison County Fair and the 4-H Stockman’s Club, raised over $3,000 through ticket sales and a silent auction. The vineyard, which has been growing grapes since 2004, is noted for its sustainability efforts and its ability to both grow grapes and produce wine on-site.
