Vito Bardi elected Forza Italia regional secretary in Basilicata

Vito Bardi, the President of the Basilicata region, has been elected by acclamation as the regional secretary of Forza Italia. The election took place during a party congress in Potenza, presided over by national vice-secretary Alberto Cirio.

Francesco Cupparo noted that the election of a local Lucanian leader marks a significant step in strengthening the party's territorial roots and its ability to influence coalition decisions. The party reported approximately 11,000 memberships following the congress.

The leadership change has sparked speculation regarding potential early regional elections. If Bardi pursues a candidacy in upcoming national political elections, he may step down from his role as regional governor, which could trigger a vote in Basilicata two years ahead of the scheduled 2029 mandate expiration.
