Vitor Reis credits Abel Ferreira for Manchester City transfer

Palmeiras defender Vitor Reis has revealed that coach Abel Ferreira played a role in his transfer to Manchester City. Reis stated that Ferreira engaged in significant discussions with Hugo Viana, the Portuguese football director at City, which likely aided the negotiation process. While Reis noted that Manchester City had been monitoring his performances since his time with the Brazilian youth national teams, he credited Ferreira’s communication with the English club's leadership as a contributing factor.

Following the departure of midfielder Allan to Manchester City in a deal worth approximately 40 million euros, Abel Ferreira has had to adapt his tactical approach. Rather than seeking a direct replacement for Allan’s unique ability to create imbalance in a three-defender system, Ferreira transitioned to a four-defender line in recent matches. This tactical shift was evident in Palmeiras’ 3-0 victory over Santos in the Copa do Brasil, where the offensive burden was redistributed among players like Andreas Pereira and Flaco López.
