Vitorchiano faces school safety concerns and final road resurfacing works

Local committees in Vitorchiano have written to the regional health authority, fire department, municipal officials and the Ministry of Education demanding safety checks on a new school complex under construction. The facility, intended for about 220 children aged 0‑6, is located near Provincial Road 151 and the Santa Fiora quarry. The groups cite potential air‑quality issues, narrowed access roads and limited routes for emergency vehicles, and have asked for air‑pollution monitoring and a thorough safety assessment. No official response has been reported.

Meanwhile, the municipality has entered the final phase of a series of road‑maintenance works in Vitorchiano. Asphalt resurfacing is underway on several streets—including Via Bachelet, Via della Stazione and Via Aquilanti—and is expected to be completed by July, followed by the replacement of horizontal road markings. The upgrades aim to improve pavement quality, pedestrian sidewalks and traffic safety across the town.
