Vitrafy Life Sciences partners with Versiti Blood Health for platelet cryopreservation
Vitrafy Life Sciences has entered a partnership with the U.S. non-profit blood network Versiti Blood Health to advance the development of a cryopreservation ecosystem specifically for platelets. The collaboration involves integrating Vitrafy’s proprietary technology, which includes the Guardion freezing unit and the LifeChain cloud-based software platform, into Versiti’s existing workflows.
As part of the agreement, Vitrafy will provide two cryopreservation freezing units to the Versiti Blood Research Institute in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, at no cost. These resources will support verification and validation activities intended to help Vitrafy obtain a U.S. medical device listing for its cryopreservation freezer by fiscal year 2027.
The partnership follows a Phase II in-vitro study conducted by the United States Army Institute of Surgical Research (USAISR). The study reported a 94.4% mean post-thaw platelet recovery using Vitrafy’s 3% DMSO no-wash protocol. Analysts at Morgans have noted the company's development progress, suggesting potential value increases for the ASX-listed biotech.
