Vitória and Botafogo face STJD disciplinary charges over match delay

Esporte Clube Vitória and Botafogo were each denounced to Brazil's Superior Tribunal de Justiça Desportiva (STJD) following a five‑minute late arrival of Vitória’s team at their Série A encounter on 23 May. The clubs are alleged to have breached articles 206 and 191 of the Brazilian Sports Justice Code, which cover delays in starting or restarting a match and violations of competition rules. Penalties could range from a R$ 100‑R$ 1,000 fine per minute to a maximum of R$ 100 000, depending on the tribunal’s decision. Both clubs will appear before the STJD’s 6th Disciplinary Commission on 28 May at 10:00 h for a joint hearing.
