Anresf report reveals massive debts in Brazilian football

The Agência Nacional de Regulação e Sustentabilidade do Futebol (Anresf) has released a financial transparency panel detailing the debts of 40 clubs in Brazil's Série A and Série B. The combined liabilities of these teams reach approximately R$ 25 billion, with Série A clubs accounting for R$ 22.08 billion and Série B clubs totaling R$ 2.92 billion.

Corinthians holds the highest total debt at R$ 2.76 billion, followed by Atlético-MG (R$ 2.66 billion) and São Paulo (R$ 2.45 billion). While Corinthians leads in total debt, Atlético-MG faces the highest short-term pressure, with R$ 1.36 billion due within 12 months.

The report also highlights widespread payment delays. Approximately half of the clubs in the top two divisions reported overdue salaries or other financial pendencies as of June 2026. Twenty-four clubs are currently under scrutiny by the fair play agency, with eight receiving 45-day deadlines to settle debts to avoid transfer bans.

In Série B, Sport leads the debt ranking with R$ 422 million, while CRB reports the lowest debt among the 40 analyzed clubs at R$ 900,000.
