Vitória da Conquista police chase leaves two injured

Two people were injured during a police pursuit in Vitória da Conquista, Bahia, on Tuesday night. The incident occurred near a local Urgent Care Unit (UPA) following a report of a motorcycle and cellphone robbery.

The victims, a 27-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy, were struck by gunfire. The man sustained a gunshot wound to his right arm and required medical attention for a lodged projectile, while the teenager suffered a graze to the chest. The Military Police stated they could not determine the exact origin of the shots that hit the victims.

The pursuit began after police tracked a stolen phone to a motorcycle matching the description of the stolen vehicle. When officers attempted to stop the suspects near the Anel Viário and Avenida Juracy Magalhães, the individuals failed to comply, leading to the confrontation. The shooting caused tension at the UPA, briefly suspending medical services.
