Vitória dismisses coach Jair Ventura
Esporte Clube Vitória has announced the dismissal of head coach Jair Ventura with five rounds remaining in the Campeonato Brasileiro. The decision follows a 2-0 away defeat against Coritiba and a recent decline in performance, where the team secured only four victories in its last 14 league matches.
Ventura, who took charge in late September 2025, leaves with a 49% success rate over 69 matches. The club acknowledged his contributions, noting his role in securing Série A status in 2025, winning the Copa do Nordeste, and reaching the Copa do Brasil quarterfinals. Assistant coaches Emílio Faro and Antônio Macedo are also departing.
Vitória currently sits in 14th place with 38 points, holding a narrow two-point lead over Corinthians, who occupy the relegation zone. Cleber Santos, the club's permanent assistant coach, has been appointed as the interim manager to lead the team in its upcoming match against Fluminense at the Barradão stadium.
