Vittoria and Carbonia hit by fires involving oxygen cylinders and waste
In Vittoria, a van carrying oxygen cylinders caught fire in the Forcone district, causing several explosions and a large column of black smoke. The incident resulted in broken windows in nearby homes and the fire spreading to a parked car. The driver was transported to Guzzardi Hospital for treatment, and while residents evacuated their homes out of fear, no further injuries have been reported.
In Carbonia, a large pile of accumulated waste, including appliances and LPG cylinders, caught fire, creating unbreathable air and a massive smoke cloud visible across the city. The fire threatened nearby residential houses after spreading to a row of eucalyptus trees. Officials noted that the area, intended for construction waste, had become an uncontrolled landfill due to disposal delays.
