Vittorio Sgarbi remains in intensive care in Rome
Art critic and former Undersecretary of Culture Vittorio Sgarbi remains in intensive care at the Policlinico Gemelli in Rome following severe respiratory failure. While some reports indicate he is stable and vigilant, his medical condition is described as highly complex.
Journalist Myrta Merlino reported that doctors are currently unable to extubate Sgarbi due to an issue with infected phlegm that he must avoid swallowing. The 74-year-old is described as being extremely weak.
The hospitalization has sparked tension within Sgarbi's family. His daughter, Evelina Sgarbi, has criticized those close to him, alleging that he was subjected to excessive stress and travel despite his health, and expressed profound emotional distress. Meanwhile, Merlino highlighted the support provided by his sister, Elisabetta Sgarbi, and his partner, Sabrina Colle.
Additionally, legal concerns have been raised regarding privacy. Evelina's mother has accused Merlino of violating privacy during the media coverage of the situation and has indicated that legal action may be pursued.
