Vittorio Sgarbi remains in intensive care in Rome

Art critic Vittorio Sgarbi remains in intensive care at the Policlinico Agostino Gemelli in Rome following a severe respiratory failure. While medical bulletins describe his condition as stable, he has undergone a percutaneous tracheostomy due to prolonged ventilator dependency.

His daughter, Evelina Sgarbi, has publicly contested the narrative that his health issues are primarily due to depression. Citing medical records, she stated that he suffers from serious organic pathologies, including a subclavian vein thrombosis that caused cerebral ischemia, as well as senile dementia. Evelina has raised concerns regarding potential medical negligence, alleging he was hospitalized too late, and criticized those close to him for allegedly exploiting his debilitated state during the summer.

Further tensions have emerged regarding Sgarbi's personal life. Evelina questioned a notation in his medical records labeling him as ‘married,’ suggesting this error may have influenced decision-making processes. She also expressed significant friction with his partner, Sabrina Colle, regarding the management of his care and personal affairs.
