Vittorio Veneto councilor calls for urgent safety measures after pitbull attack

Following an incident where a woman was bitten on the leg by a pitbull outside a supermarket in Vittorio Veneto, local opposition councilor Thomas Toffoli of Fratelli d'Italia has filed a formal inquiry regarding public safety and owner responsibility.

Toffoli is calling for urgent measures, including the publication of a specific local ordinance and the installation of informative signs to remind owners of the obligation to use leashes and muzzles in potentially risky situations. He also requested that the dog involved in the attack be identified, its owner located, and the animal registered with the Ulss as a dangerous subject requiring a muzzle in public spaces.

The councilor cited a previous personal encounter on April 25 along the Meschio river cycle path involving an unrestrained large dog as a reason for his calls for increased local police patrols. He has asked Mayor Mirella Balliana to provide a detailed program for future prevention and safety interventions.
