VIV Africa 2026 opens in Rwanda to drive livestock investment

The VIV Africa 2026 Expo and Conference opened at the Kigali Convention Centre on October 7–8, gathering global stakeholders to discuss investment and innovation in Africa’s poultry and livestock value chains. The event aims to address food system challenges through increased collaboration and technological exchange.

Rwanda’s Minister of Agriculture and Animal Resources, Dr. Telesphore Ndabamenye, highlighted the country’s strategic goal to expand its agricultural sector. Rwanda is specifically targeting a 24 percent increase in poultry meat production and a 25 percent increase in egg production by 2029. To attract investment, the Rwandan government is offering customs exemptions and bureaucratic simplifications to establish the nation as a regional trade hub.

The expo also serves as a platform for international participation, including representatives from Turkey such as HasTavuk, focusing on technology transfer and market exploration within the Sub-Saharan African market.
