VIVA project to revive historic Spanish Impala motorcycle

The VIVA project is set to revive the historic Spanish Impala motorcycle name in 2026. Led by father and son Salva Codinach Margarit and Salva Codinach Sánchez-Gómez, the initiative aims to blend the aesthetic heritage of the original 1962 Montesa Impala with modern mechanical reliability.

Rather than a full industrial reconstruction, the project uses existing Honda platforms to create two distinct models. The first will be a 125cc version based on the Honda CB125F, featuring electronic injection, LED lighting, and electric start. The second will be a 350cc version based on the Honda GB350S, designed for the A2 license category.

The motorcycles will feature updated bodywork, including new fuel tanks, seats, side covers, and carbon fiber components, to replicate the iconic silhouette of the original while maintaining contemporary standards for maintenance and performance.
