VIVANT actor Linlin details intense physical transformation for role
The Japanese drama series ‘VIVANT’ continues to captivate audiences as the plot intensifies. Recent episodes focus on a high-stakes rescue operation at Shaki Castle, where the undercover organization ‘Beppan’ and the group ‘Tent’ engage in a fierce confrontation with the ‘Xinyi’ organization.
Actor Linlin, who portrays the antagonist Shu Haoran, has shared insights into his intense physical transformation for the role. To achieve the character’s imposing presence, Linlin gained approximately 6 kilograms in just two weeks by consuming large amounts of carbohydrates and underwent a complete makeover, including shaving his head and eyebrows. He described his portrayal of Shu as an ambitious manager who operates with a sense of justice within his own organization, rather than being a ‘simple villain.’
Linlin also reflected on his experiences working with lead actor Masato Sakai and co-star Tori Matsuzaka. He noted the high production scale of the series, comparing the experience to the grand cinematic scope of classic Japanese dramas, and expressed admiration for the professional filming techniques used on set.
