Viviane Batidão boat crash in Pará cancels show

Brazilian singer Viviane Batidão was traveling by boat from Oeiras, Pará, back toward Cametá on the early hours of Sunday, 2 August 2026, when the vessel left its course and struck trees along the riverbank. The artist said the pilot fell asleep while operating the boat and appeared to have been intoxicated, using only a handheld lantern for navigation. Five members of her team suffered light injuries such as bruises and sprains; the pilot incurred more serious wounds and required surgery.

The accident forced the cancellation of Batidão’s scheduled performance in Curuçá, Pará. Batidão thanked local authorities, including the mayor of Oeiras, Gilma Ribeiro, and the crew of Tarcísio do Acordeon, for the prompt medical assistance. She called for stricter safety measures on river transport in the region.
