Vivienne Jolie takes legal steps to drop father Brad Pitt's surname
Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt, the 18-year-old daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, has taken significant legal steps to officially drop her father’s surname. Following California law, she has completed the mandatory requirement of publishing legal notices in the Los Angeles Daily Journal for four consecutive weeks between July 24 and August 14.
Vivienne filed her initial petition with the Los Angeles County Superior Court on July 21, citing “personal reasons” for the change. She seeks to be legally recognized as Vivienne Marcheline Jolie. This move follows her previous professional use of the name “Vivienne Jolie” during her work on the Broadway production of “The Outsiders.”
A court hearing is scheduled for November 2, 2026, to determine if the request will be granted. The process allows for written objections to be filed by interested parties prior to the hearing. Vivienne is the fourth child of the former couple to pursue legal name changes to remove the “Pitt” surname, joining siblings Shiloh, Maddox, and Zahara.
