Vivint report ranks U.S. cities by summer vacation crime risk

Home‑security firm Vivint analyzed FBI crime data for the summer of 2024 across 25 of America’s most popular vacation destinations. The study found that overall burglaries rose 4.7 % while many travelers left homes empty.

Park City, Utah, recorded the lowest property‑crime rate, making it the safest spot for a summer getaway. Close behind were San Diego and Santa Barbara, California, Charleston, South Carolina, West Palm Beach, Florida, and Boston, Massachusetts.

At the opposite end, Honolulu, Hawaii, topped the list for property crime, with Seattle, Philadelphia, Denver, Nashville and San Antonio also among the highest‑risk cities. Notable spikes included Miami’s 60 % rise in summer property crime since 2022 and a 30 % seasonal surge in Juneau, Alaska. Conversely, West Palm Beach and San Francisco saw the biggest drops.
