Vivo potentially developing satellite connectivity service

Reports suggest the Brazilian telecommunications operator Vivo is preparing a new service called ‘Vivo Satélite’. The offering is expected to utilize direct-to-cell technology, similar to Starlink’s satellite-to-smartphone capabilities, to provide internet access in areas lacking traditional mobile coverage.

Internal training materials and the appearance of a ‘Vivo Starlink’ network on some devices have fueled speculation regarding the service. The technology aims to complement terrestrial networks by providing connectivity in rural areas, remote roads, and forests without requiring specialized hardware like satellite dishes.

Official details regarding commercial conditions, compatible devices, launch dates, and specific service speeds have not yet been confirmed by the operator.
