VKI launches voting for the 2026 Konsum-Ente consumer award
The Association for Consumer Information (VKI) has launched voting for the ‘Konsum-Ente 2026’, an award identifying the most frustrating food products of the year. Voting is open until October 9, 2026.
Five products have been nominated across various categories, including oversized packaging, shrinkflation, and skimpflation. The nominees include:
• Bardollini Pistachio Cookies: Cited for oversized packaging where the container holds only six cookies despite having space for eight. • Ferrero Fiesta l’Originale: Criticized because its 8.5 percent liqueur content is only listed in the ingredients on the back, which may pose issues for those avoiding alcohol. • Neoh Crunch bars: Noted for a significant discrepancy between the large packaging size and the actual size of the bars. • Rama Margarine: A repeat nominee following a reduction in weight from 500g to 400g alongside price increases. • Ruben’s Pistachio Cream: Accused of skimpflation after the pistachio content was reduced from 45 percent to 15 percent without changes to price or design.
