Víkingur players discuss squad changes and future roles

Gylfi Þór Sigurðsson and Nikolaj Hansen have addressed recent developments within the Víkingur football club. Sigurðsson expressed frustration regarding coach Sölvi Geir Ottesen’s decision to make several changes to the lineup prior to the cup semi-final against Breiðablik, a match which Víkingur lost 3-0.

Meanwhile, Danish striker Nikolaj Hansen confirmed he has been informed by the club that his role is expected to diminish in the upcoming season. Although he remains under contract until next year, Hansen has been given permission to explore opportunities with other clubs. Hansen, a highly decorated player with eight major titles at Víkingur, noted that while the news was unexpected, he perceives the transparency as a sign of respect after his nine-year tenure with the team.
