Vladdo leaves RCN Televisión following critical political caricature

RCN Televisión has terminated the contract of political caricaturist Vladdo, ending his section ‘Los Trazos del Poder’ in Noticias RCN. While the network cited administrative reasons for the decision, the move follows a controversial caricature depicting President Abelardo de la Espriella walking among body bags of dissidents following a military operation in Guaviare.

Other political cartoonists and figures have criticized the decision, suggesting it reflects a crackdown on critical humor and media independence under the current administration. Caricaturist Matador defended Vladdo, comparing the current political climate to the era that led to the assassination of journalist Jaime Garzón and questioning the safety of critical voices in traditional media.
