Vladimir Eldrov trial delayed due to summoning issues

The long-awaited trial against Plovdiv lawyer Vladimir Eldrov for large-scale insurance fraud has faced an initial setback at the Plovdiv District Court. The proceedings were postponed to November due to procedural chaos regarding the summoning of victims. Out of 15 listed claimants, only two were present, with others either deceased or unable to be located at their registered addresses.

Eldrov, who appeared in court under heavy security and wearing a medical mask to avoid cameras, faces charges related to crimes committed between 2011 and 2014. The prosecution alleges that while acting as a legal representative for clients seeking insurance payouts following traffic accidents, Eldrov misled victims regarding the amount of their compensation and misappropriated funds.

The total alleged damages across the charges exceed 676,000 BGN. Victims expressed significant frustration over the decade-long delay, noting the financial and emotional toll of the legal saga. This case follows Eldrov’s previous conviction in 2022 for murder solicitation and arson.
