Vladimir Grbić reflects on family upbringing and father's legacy

Serbian volleyball legend Vladimir ‘Vanja’ Grbić has shared personal reflections on his upbringing and the loss of his father, Miloš Grbić, in 2008. He described growing up in a patriarchal household in Klek, near Zrenjanin, where strict discipline and hard work were central to his development alongside his brother, Nikola.

Vladimir credited his father, a former volleyball player and coach, with establishing the foundation for their athletic success, while noting that their mother, Danica, provided the essential emotional support. He also spoke about the profound impact of his father's passing following a heart attack and a subsequent struggle for life at the VMA in Belgrade.

Additionally, Grbić discussed a spiritual turning point during a visit to Hilandar in 2012, a trip that brought him peace and coincided with the news that his wife, Sara, was pregnant with their daughter, Mila.
