Vladimir Guerrero Jr. awaits first home run at Rogers Centre

Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is still searching for his first home run at Rogers Centre this season. Despite playing 61 home games and 121 total games into the season, the Dominican slugger has yet to hit a long ball in front of the home crowd.

Following a 5-3 victory over the Boston Red Sox, Guerrero expressed optimism regarding the drought, stating, “I believe in God, and when he decides the home run will come, it’ll come.” He noted that he is continuing to work hard and pray for the breakthrough.

Hitting coach David Popkins has suggested that Guerrero’s mechanics have been inconsistent, comparing his swing to an orchestra with out-of-tune instruments. Physical factors may also be contributing to the slump, as Guerrero has dealt with back issues and recent hamstring inflammation.
