Vladimir Guerrero Jr. activated from concussion injured list
Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has been activated from the seven-day concussion injured list. He is expected to return to the lineup for the team's series against the New York Yankees.
Guerrero was placed on the injured list following a collision with Yankees shortstop George Lombard Jr. during a play at third base. The impact caused Guerrero to suffer concussion symptoms and dislodged his helmet.
Before his return, Guerrero completed a rehabilitation assignment with the Single-A Dunedin Blue Jays, where he recorded a double and two walks. Blue Jays manager John Schneider stated that Guerrero has passed all necessary testing and is feeling “normal.”
In related roster moves, the Blue Jays placed infielder Josh Smith on the 10-day injured list due to hamstring inflammation and optioned Davis Schneider to Triple-A Buffalo.
