Vladimir Putin addresses Russian elections and economic outlook

Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed upcoming State Duma elections and the nation's economic status. Regarding the elections, scheduled from September 18 to 20, Putin stated that the results would represent a collective response against those seeking to weaken Russia's sovereignty. He characterized the upcoming vote as a vital domestic political event that would demonstrate national unity behind Russian fighters.

On economic matters, Putin reported that Russia's GDP growth is expected to reach approximately one percent by the end of the year. He noted that unemployment remains near a historical low of 2.3 percent. The federal budget recorded a surplus of 606 billion rubles in August, driven largely by an 18 percent increase in non-oil and gas revenues during the first eight months of the year.

Putin emphasized that budget priorities include fulfilling social obligations, ensuring national security, and maintaining defense capabilities. He also noted that rising oil and gas revenues are expected in the coming months, which may bolster the National Wealth Fund.
