Vladimir Putin arrives in New Delhi for BRICS Summit

Russian President Vladimir Putin has arrived in New Delhi for the BRICS Summit, traveling aboard a specially modified Ilyushin IL-96-300PU. Often referred to as the ‘Flying Kremlin’, the aircraft serves as a mobile command centre, equipped with secure satellite communications, protected radio and data channels, and electronic countermeasures to maintain contact with Russian military and intelligence networks.

To enhance security during international travel, the presidential flight operation utilizes decoy tactics, including the deployment of a second, identical aircraft to obscure the president's actual location. The IL-96-300PU is designed for long-range missions, capable of traveling approximately 11,000 kilometres without refueling. During his visit to India, Putin is scheduled to participate in the summit and hold meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
