Vladimir Putin calls Algeria one of Russia’s closest allies

Russian President Vladimir Putin has described Algeria as one of Russia’s ‘closest friends and allies,’ highlighting the strength of the bilateral relationship during a forum held by the ‘Russia Business’ organization. Putin emphasized that the partnership is built on mutual trust and responsibility, noting that economic cooperation extends well beyond the food sector into various other diversified fields.

He stated that both nations have consistently met their commitments, asserting, ‘As economic partners, we have never disappointed them on any issue or at any level, and they have not disappointed us either.’

This reinforcement of ties follows recent comments from Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who reaffirmed the depth of the relationship. Tebboune noted that the cooperation, which spans economic and cultural domains, is rooted in a historical friendship dating back more than six decades, predating Algeria’s independence.
