Vladimir Putin cites record turnout in Russian State Duma elections

Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that record voter turnout during the recent elections for the State Duma and regional legislative assemblies demonstrates that the country cannot be intimidated. Speaking at a meeting with government members, Putin noted that despite attempts by enemies to sabotage the process and breach air defense systems, the high turnout reflects public support for the government's political course and efforts to strengthen the state.

The elections, held from September 18 to 20 across 39 regions, included contests for the highest regional officials in areas such as Chechnya, Mordovia, and Tuva. According to the Central Election Commission, voter turnout reached 59.68 percent. With 95.18 percent of protocols counted, the United Russia party has secured 57.83 percent of the vote.

State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin added that the election campaign was competitive and its legitimacy was confirmed, including by international observers. He remarked that the participation of citizens serves as a collective contribution to Russia's victory and dismissed attempts by Western nations to interfere in the electoral process.
