Vladimir Putin claims Europe harms its industry by rejecting Russian energy

During the eighth Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), Vladimir Putin stated that Europe is undermining its own economic stability and social cohesion by moving away from Russian energy supplies. He argued that attempts to marginalize Russia in the global gas trade result in exorbitant costs for both households and businesses.

Putin suggested that the European Union has effectively sabotaged its industrial sector by ignoring long-term agreements. He noted that the international gas market is currently facing instability due to Middle East tensions affecting logistics, deliberate attacks on Russian pipelines, and trade barriers regarding specialized technical equipment.

To ensure future energy security, Putin advocated for coordinated supply strategies similar to OPEC+ and emphasized the need for long-term contracts to stimulate global investment. He also warned that delaying major investments could lead to lasting market imbalances and encouraged GECF members to improve transport efficiency through mutual exchange agreements.
