Vladimir Putin faces strategic isolation and declining popularity
An international diagnostic report suggests that Vladimir Putin is strategically isolated from the operational realities of his military forces and the true state of the Russian economy. The report indicates that the Kremlin's institutional isolation has created a decision-making structure distorted by overly complacent evaluations. This is attributed to a system of bureaucratic self-censorship where the President's inner circle filters out negative news to avoid contradicting his vision.
As a result, high-ranking military officials reportedly embellish territorial setbacks and material losses to protect their positions. This flow of falsified information leads to state directives based on outdated wartime premises. The Center for Strategic and International Studies has previously noted doctrinal failures caused by this gap between leadership and tactical commanders.
Concurrently, data shows a significant decline in Putin's popularity, which had exceeded 80% at the start of the conflict in Ukraine. Despite failing to secure the Donbas region, the Russian leader continues the military campaign, which remains unpopular among a majority of the Russian population.
