Vladimir Putin identifies Africa as the continent of the future
During the eighth Gas Exporting Countries Forum summit, Russian President Vladimir Putin described Africa as the “continent of the future,” citing its significant economic and demographic potential. He noted that Africa's young population is seeking improved education and higher living standards, which he suggested will lead to systemic changes across the continent.
Putin proposed that Africa should be a top priority for a new investment platform being developed within the BRICS framework, specifically designed for fast-growing markets. This initiative aims to strengthen economic ties between Russia and African nations.
Russian Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov supported these views, noting that African economies are growing at an average rate of 4.2 percent, exceeding the global average. Ushakov also referenced United Nations projections stating that Africa's population is expected to exceed 2.5 billion by 2050, with a high proportion of youth.
