Putin praises PM Modi’s peace efforts and ideas for Ukraine conflict resolution

Russian President Vladimir Putin has publicly commended Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his persistent efforts to facilitate a peaceful resolution to the Ukraine conflict. Speaking at the Valdai International Discussion Club in Moscow, Putin noted that despite the close and friendly personal relations between the two leaders, Modi consistently raises the issue of ending the war during their meetings.

Putin described Modi as having ‘very good ideas’ aimed at finding mutually acceptable solutions for both sides. He expressed gratitude for the Prime Minister’s commitment to resolving the conflict through dialogue and diplomacy rather than through battlefield victory. The Russian leader also took the opportunity to praise India’s cultural diversity and unity, noting it as an example of how diversity can coexist.

India has maintained a neutral, principled, and humanitarian stance throughout the conflict. Prime Minister Modi has repeatedly advocated for moving from a state of ‘endless war’ to an ‘end of war’ through diplomatic engagement. This sentiment was echoed by Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, who stated that Russia welcomes India’s peace initiatives, noting that Moscow’s strategy aligns with New Delhi’s emphasis on dialogue.
