Vladimir Putin meets Indian Foreign Minister to discuss trade and fertilizer supplies

Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar at the Kremlin to discuss the strengthening of bilateral relations. Putin noted that after a slight decline last year, trade volume between Russia and India has increased this year, attributing this growth to the personal attention of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

A primary focus of the discussions included energy resources and the supply of fertilizers. Putin stated that Russia is increasing fertilizer shipments to support the interests of Indian farmers and the agricultural sector, expressing readiness to continue these efforts. Other areas of ongoing cooperation include atomic energy and high technologies.

Both leaders expressed interest in future high-level engagements. Jaishankar noted that Prime Minister Modi looks forward to meeting Putin during the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit and expressed hope that Putin will also attend the BRICS summit in New Delhi this September.
