Vladimir Putin overcomes diplomatic isolation amid shifting US policy

Russian President Vladimir Putin is gradually overcoming the international diplomatic isolation imposed by Western nations following the invasion of Ukraine. According to analysis by The New York Times, a shift in Washington's political landscape, specifically regarding US President Donald Trump, is facilitating this return to global diplomacy.

President Trump has emphasized the necessity of direct dialogue with Putin to end the conflict in Ukraine. This approach allows the Kremlin to pursue its long-standing strategy of restoring economic and diplomatic cooperation with the United States while continuing military operations.

In a related development, Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov stated that Putin is prepared to answer phone calls from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, suggesting that Zelensky could visit Moscow for direct negotiations. However, Ukrainian officials, including communications advisor Dmytro Litvins, have expressed skepticism, noting that critical issues regarding peace and security guarantees require high-level leader meetings rather than mere telephone conversations.
