Vladimir Putin praises Iranian resilience and condemns Ali Larijani's death

During the 23rd annual Valdai Discussion Club meeting in Moscow, Russian President Vladimir Putin praised the resilience and heroism of the Iranian people in the face of aggression from the United States and Israel.

Putin highlighted the institutional strength of the Islamic Republic, specifically noting the commitment of individuals within the armed forces and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). He described the Iranian administration as possessing a deep pool of leaders willing to make personal sacrifices for their nation.

Furthermore, Putin condemned the death of Ali Larijani, the Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, calling it a “tremendous error.” He characterized Larijani as a positive figure and a key interlocutor who was capable of seeking mutually acceptable compromises. Putin suggested that Larijani’s death has undermined the diplomatic channels necessary to achieve peace in the Persian Gulf and West Asia.
